VALENTINE ‘LOVE YOURSELF’

lately I am listening to Oprah Winfrey’s podcasts “Super soul” and that show makes me more aware of everything around me more than ever. Absorbing Oprah’s words to find happiness is so inspiring!

There are many ways to pursuit happiness. Awareness is key. The challenge is not to listen to all the noise around you that will judge you but listen to your heart. Also, it’s a pretty powerful thing when we start to love ourselves. We don’t need anyone else to do that. Like truly accepting the person that you are, inside and out, and thriving to be the best version that you can be.

So when I was asked to participate in the Marlies Dekkers Valentine campaign ‘Love yourself’, I said yes right away. It’s a message that I totally support. I was never eager to do a photoshoot in lingerie before, to be honest, but I switched this mindset a while ago. It’s true I gained some weight over the years, so it’s inevitable to see some ‘fat’ here and there, but you know what, I’m going to own this! This is me at the moment, comfortable in my skin, and I am loving the photos!

I was free to do the art direction of this shoot because it’s important for Marlies that I feel comfortable with myself while looking for the boundaries. First, I made sure to ask the right photographer, Sanne Poeze in this case (my inspiring office body). Then the styling of the shoot I wanted a fashion theme because that’s Hashtag by Lily. It had to be tasteful. Romantic, because it’s V-day. Et voilaaa… I hope you like it.
