Day 1
Wake up
Fashion Week means lack of sleep! This ‘eyes globe’ is a perfect tool to use in the morning. I put it in the hotel room fridge the evening before. The next morning it’s ice-cold to massage my sleepy eyes.
Work out
Quick workout before a busy show day. I was impressed with the pool, spa, and gym at the Iberostar Hotel!
Lunchtime
The shows started in the late afternoon on the first day, so we had some time to explore the area near the hotel a bit. We had our lunch at, I believe, a vegan restaurant. I ordered a tasty vegan burger with sweet potatoes.

LOOK DAY 1
For my first look, I styled the brown Hugo Boss jumpsuit with pop-up blue details. From blue accessories, shoes, top to eye make up.

SHOWTIME
SANGUE NOVO; FLÁVIA BRITO
Modalisboa organized a competition for young designers from all over the world to present their talents on the Portuguese runway. Sangue Novo stands for ‘New Blood’ as they want to shine a light on new talent in the fashion industry. The jury selected 5 finalists: Cela, Filipe Cerejo, Flávia Brito, Francisco Pereira and Inês Manuel Baptista.
My favorite was Flávio Brito. It was cool to see the sketches of the designs first. I can picture this collection worn by strong (business) women, warriors. I loved the colors, fabric, and the original designs with a lot of drapes.
CAROLINA MACHADO
Carolina Machado is a designer I look forward to each season. Her designs are close to my own style, as I would love to wear each of the looks on the runway from head to toe.
This collection is oversized, cropped and midi, inspired by nature’s shapes including the earthy colors and grounded forms. It’s so effortless chic.
After the show, I had a quick chat with her. I was pleasantly surprised that she recognized me from last season. And guess what, I’m going to wear something from her collection next season! *excited!
CARLOS GIL
Carlos Gil’s collection is called MIND GAMES because every human is wondering and is seeking answers. The answers lead us to clarity from ideas and emotions into something abstract and concrete. His choice of using these patterns and colors illustrates his idea. This collection is very much in line with the coming trends: the “right” colors, suits with shorts, and oversized clutches.

Pressroom
Here is a behind-the-scenes shot. Between shows, you will find me in the pressroom selecting and editing everything as it is still fresh in my mind. Put a part on social media first and start prepping this blog post.
DAY 2
LOOK DAY 2
On the second day, I wanted to wear these cool holographic boots as the eye-catcher. The cute black dress is the contrast I was looking for. I finished the look with the baby blue clutch.

Between shows
With eight shows on a day, there is a lot of waiting in between. Yet, it was never boring. When I’m not working in the pressroom, or finding stories backstage, I was wandering on the ModaLisboa ground where a lot is happening too. Wonder Room was a big pop-up store where you could buy clothes and jewelry from local sustainable brands with fair productions. Furthermore, there were some food trucks and free Magnums!
Vintage Market
In front of the Modalisboa ground, there is this big flea market every Tuesday and Saturday. I happened to find 10€ on the floor, so I decided to spend it here at the market. I bought two Lisboa paintings that have a prominent place on the wall in my house now.
LUÌS CARVALHO
Luís Carvalho’s collection this year was all about color graphics. The main element is the mix of colors in a game of shapes and graphic lines. The silhouettes are oversized and structured. He took advantage of wools, crepe, and embroidered tulle and used stronger shades like red, pink, and yellow in combination with more neutral tones like black, ecru, and gray.
It is a well-thought-out collection, as you see the color flow on the models when they were walking behind each other during the finale. Bravo!!
GONÇALO PEIXOTO
Gonçalo Peixoto’s collection REBELLION is about making ‘’sexy miniskirts’’ appropriate and sophisticated at the same time. It draws a very fine line between tradition and challenging conventions.
Gonçalo Peixoto designs are the ones I would wear to fashion week or to a special event. It’s edgy with cool fabrics and colors, yet still very feminine with the silhouettes. I likey mucho!!
KOLOVRAT
‘’Welcome the immigrants from the future’’ is what Kolovrat’s collection is about. “These immigrants are setting up the mood for the collection, and they are showing us how we can loosen up our very fixed forms. And… along the way… all interconnects.’’ – Kolovrat
The details of her collection are based on sportswear that incorporates details from tailoring and find a new destination in draping. A very successful approach if you ask me!

DAY 3
Lunch
The weather in Lisbon was like a gift. We found an opportunity between shows to have a quick lunch on a terrace. I ordered my favorite Portuguese dish “Arroz marisco”, seafood rice.

LOOK DAY 3
On day 3 I was finally smart with the shoes, as the whole area is not heels friendly at all. Hence, these combat boots, on day 3. I like the contrast of chic and cool, to me, that’s the perfect balance for my style. I was wearing this dreamy turquoise dress with a vintage golden belt. On top, I wore a leather nude blazer, for when the sun is behind clouds. Also, how adorable is the mini bag, where only my lipstick and cards fit in.

CONSTANÇA ENTRUDO
Constança Entrudo’s collection I DON’T KNOW IF THIS EXISTS is the first performance-based commission at Lisbon Fashion Week centering on human body culture using painting, sculpture, sound and fashion.
This presentation allowed us to see his work from up close. The foodware is a piece of art and I can’t get enough of the pastel colorway.
NINAMOUNAH
Ninamounah continues to transfigure the concept of Metamorphosis following previous conceptual explorations of the intersection between biology and fashion design.
I was happy to see a Dutch designer represented here at Modalisboa. It was one of the most surprising shows of the “week”.
I had the sneak peek backstage and still, I was not ready for it.
