I could have easily stayed days in the Agrigento area, but there are so many awesome gems to explore in Sicily and we only had a short amount of time on this island. You definitely should rent a car while you are here. That is the quickest way to get the most out of this island. In this article, I show you stunning Taormina on the west coast.
We stayed at Taormina Palace hotel, where we got an upgrade. It was a spacious room, comfortable bed, and one hell of an ocean view. It was nicely located at the beginning of the city gate, where all the shops and restaurants are.
Taormina gives you the authentic Italian feeling of what you would expect when you think of Italy. Charming colorful houses on the hill, cute stairway alleys, gelatos on every corner, and restaurants with beautiful views. We tried the delicious ‘Arancina’ (last pic) from the typical Sicilian cuisine.
It was a very cloudy day, but we picked a great time to stroll around as the sun was shining bright at that moment. The minute we set foot in the car to continue our journey, it began to rain cats and dogs. Talking about luck?!
